Grass Creek in Summit County Utah

Grass Creek is a ghost town in Summit County, Utah,. Lying about 8 miles northeast of Coalville, it was once an important coal mining town that was inhabited from about 1860 until 1940. Currently, all of Grass Creek is privately owned and not open to the public.

Summit County is located in northeastern Utah and is surrounded by eight counties, including two counties from Wyoming. Summit County is part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Summit County has a population of about 30,000 residents living in 1,882 square miles of land of which 11 square miles is water. The county is mostly occupied by a mountainous terrain and includes 39 of the highest peaks in Utah. The Wasatch Range and Uinta Mountains dominate the landscape of Summit County and are popular attractions for outdoor activities.

Summit County is home to four cities, two towns, five census designated places and three unincorporated communities. The County seat is Coalville and the largest community is Park City, a major ski resort town.
